How to Stay Focused While Studying

created on Picmonkey.com

Staying focused is my downfall. Especially if I'm studying something I hate. I am the biggest procrastinator ever too. Even as I'm writing this I'm getting sidetracked! Here are a few tips to help those of you who are like me when you're studying!

1. Put away the electronics
Leave your phone or iPod or laptop or whatever out of sight, in your room, or some place where you won't find yourself reaching for it. If you need to use your computer for studying, make sure you know that you are there to study and only to study, not go on Pinterest or Facebook or Twitter. This means no listening to music too!

2. Don't study in your room (or on your bed)
Keep your bed for sleeping or relaxing. Not for studying. Last year this was all I did. I did homework on my bed, I studied on my bed, I procrastinated on my bed. You will feel soooo much more motivated if you sit at the kitchen table, at your desk, or someplace quiet. There will always be something in your room to distract you, so take away those distractions!

3. Know why you're studying
Studying, however painful it may be, is something you have to do (unless you're one of those people who has a photographic memory or can remember everything). It's not only important so you can do the best you can in your classes, but it also helps you put your academic goals in perspective. Sure there will always be a test you do poorly on no matter how much you study, but at least you tried! Better to try and fail than fail without trying at all!

4. Don't cram
Start making notecards or reviewing your notes at least a couple nights in advance. I know this isn't always possible, but even making a few note cards or studying for 10 minutes can make a difference. Set aside a little time every weekend to study. I'm guilty of cramming for practically every test. It's hard to find time to study every night like teachers expect you to do. I mean, come on, you have a life outside of school! Review a little before bed or use the Quizlet app to study on the go!

5. Stay organized
Make sure you have a designated notebook (or notebook section) for every class. Keeping everything for the chapter you are studying in the same place will make everything easier. Don't have some notes in one place and some in another. It will seriously cut down your studying time if you have everything right there.

Hope these tips helped! What are some ways you stay focused? Comment below!

Motivational Quote Monday

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posts... I've been super busy.  Here's a little motivation for your week!

"Never stop doing your best just because someone doesn't give you credit"

"The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed" -Chinese proverb

"Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion" -Muhammad Ali

"If you can't stop thinking about it, don't stop working for it"

"This is a brick wall. It's in your way. You can climb over it. Or tunnel underneath it. Or kick it down. Or try to walk around it. Or you can sit down on the ground in front of it and weep bitter, life-is-not-fair, brick wall-hating tears. But let's be honest: when you cry, your mascara runs. And so does your nose. And your eyes get red and puffy. And when you're done, that brick wall will still be there. In your way. But the choice is yours."

Don't ever give up! You're awesome and beautiful and fascinating even if you don't think you are!

Have the best week ever!

Liebster Award

Hey guys! I was nominated for the Liebster Award! I've been secretly hoping that I would be although I didn't expect it! A big thank you to the lovely Hayls from Love Everyday Life!

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you
2. Answer the 11 questions they've asked you
3. Nominate 11 bloggers (they must have under 200 followers)
4. Write 11 questions for the next bloggers to answer
5. Be sure to tell the bloggers that they've been nominated!

The questions from Hayls:

1. What is your guilty pleasure?
Singing along to the radio in the car (when I'm alone) -- I could seriously sing Stay with Me by
Sam Smith and Amnesia by 5sos all day long. Unfortunately, I cannot carry a tune to save my life,
    but it's still fun!

2. Favourite band, singer, or type of music?
One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, or Birdy.

3. Describe yourself in 3 words?
   Quirky, quiet, creative.

4. Tea or Coffee?
I don't really drink either, but I'll choose coffee because it smells so good!

5. If you had one wish what would it be? (And not I would wish for 3 more wishes haha)
I would wish to travel around the world.

6. Describe your perfect partner?
Well.... he would have to be nice to everyone, responsible, smart, funny, athletic, tall (although
most guys are seeing I'm 5'2), caring, passionate, and he cannot be arrogant.

7. Favourite animal?
Dog! My golden retriever and I are tight!

8. What do you most like to blog about?
I haven't been blogging for too long, but I love product reviews. They are just so helpful,
especially if you aren't sure whether or not to buy something!

9. What is your favorite social media site and why?
Pinterest. I am completely addicted- I can literally spend hours on there. Right now I am so
    obsessed with home decor.

10. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Jane or Elizabeth Jane. They are my favorite characters from Pride and Prejudice, which I love! I
know I would probably be plain Jane a lot, but in the book, Jane is so sweet and kind and is the
most amazing sister. And Elizabeth because Lizzie is so strong and determined and not afraid to
     speak her mind.

11. A saying/ quote that describes you or your life?
     "I think a lot, but I don't say much." - Anne Frank

My Questions:

1.  If you could go one place in the world, where would it be and why?

2. If you weren't a human, what would you be?

8. What has been your happiest memory?
